Overview of Role
The Solutions Architect will be responsible at a Regional level for providing the technical expertise to design, oversee medium to large solutions primarily for Commvault’s enterprise customers and implement an approved design where required. The Architect must provide comprehensive, fully supported and efficient solution designs that allow controlled, efficient implementation of solutions as delivered through the regional PS organisation.
This person will be expected to liaise with customers (at all levels), Account Managers, Sales Engineers and Implementation Specialists in the region as well as internally at Commvault to resolve administrative and licensing queries.
To communicate clearly and precisely the proposed technical solution to Customers, partners and internal Commvault staff. To ensure the proposed solution is fit for purpose and meets all the customer requirements.
- Input to technical sales proposals and proof-of-concept engagement paperwork on technical, delivery & risk management aspects (alongside the PMO), ensuring that proposed solutions, approaches and delivery plans/requirements are viable and can be delivered to the satisfaction of the client within the required timescales and cost.
- Assist in assessing the professional services delivery risks and dependencies of proposed solutions, developing & executing pragmatic approaches to eliminating or containing these risks.

The role is pivotal to the success of Commvault given the degree of end customer focus and Professional Services’ responsibility high quality solutions. The Architect must therefore provide comprehensive, fully supported and efficient solution designs that allow controlled, efficient implementation of solutions.
It is therefore necessary for candidates to possess the following attributes:
Customer Focused – Able to balance Customer and Commvault requirements. To be able to converse with the customer staff at all levels from IT directors to IT administrators. To gain their trust by demonstrating a technical ability that can span multiple disciplines. Provide a professional attitude to the work and show Commvault in as best light as possible.
Accountability & Ownership – able to make things happen and where required, take ownership for the successful execution of complex tasks within the medium to large size delivery engagements. Be accountable for issues or problems which may arise, working with others as required to develop timely solutions. Assist the Implementation Specialists where required to ensure the design is correctly deployed in line with the original design document.
Written & Verbal Communication Skills – articulate and effective communicator & presenter, able to describe complex problems and solutions in simple or understandable terms. To be able to act as regional Professional Services escalation point. They must escalate any critical issues that may affect the deployment and work with the management team and any other Commvault team member to help solve critical customer situations related to Professional Services deliveries.
Solution Management – able to demonstrate leadership and manage the solution they have designed. Able to provide the necessary motivation, guidance and support for project team members.
Consulting Skills – Able to build and maintain credibility & trust when exposed to executive and senior level management within Commvault clients & partners. Possesses the essential skills required for effective Professional Services business development. These skills include but are not limited to: - planning & preparation, expectation setting, persuasion, negotiation & objection handling, tact & diplomacy, sales & commercial awareness.
Technical Expertise – They will need to be at the forefront of developments and although may not be able to delve as deep into a feature as the technical specialist, they should be able to extract information from other team members to ensure the best solution is provided. They should liaise closely with their manager and take responsibility for ensuring their skills and knowledge is always current.
Target Career Profile
Candidate Architect’s should have strong demonstrable IT experience with at least 2 years spent designing & managing professional services engagements, ideally in data protection and associated technologies.
Candidates must have gained experience in working in large enterprises, ideally spanning multiple business sectors such as finance, telecommunications and public sector. They should therefore be conversant with mainstream IT practices & standards and have a proven understanding of the key processes in enterprise scale clients relating to the design, deployment and operational management of IT solutions and infrastructure.
